Renal Osteomalacia

Abstract

|
A case of renal osteomalacia in a 33-year-old farmer was presented.
Chief complaints were gradual development of pain and limited motion on the back of 5 months duration.
X-ray study revealed a marked bone atrophy showing flattening of the multiple spinal bodies, and skull showed multiple bony defect diffusely. Bone defects were also seen in the left ilium and right pubic bone. Both hands and feet were normal except slight cortical erosion seen in the middle phalangeal bone of the left ring finger.
Laboratory findings showed elevated serum inorganic phosphorus, alkaline phosphatase, NPN with persisted proteinuria and lowered serum calcium.
